Pittsburgh's Going to the Superbowl!

At our apartment, we're getting very excited for this weekend.  Not only are we going to see Andimay on Saturday (yay!), but also the Steelers are playing in the Superbowl on Sunday.

Mostly, I'm excited about the food.  When the Steelers won the championship game two weeks ago, we had some fellow Pittsburgh fans over to watch the game.  This was an excellent excuse to make yummy crappy food and use wedding present serving dishes.
Here's what we made:

Annie Eats Pizza Bites

These pizza bites were awesome!  Very yummy and pretty easy to make.  They worked out well for a crowd because everyone could pick at them.  Served with some pizza sauce for dipping.

Baker's One Bowl Brownies
I couldn't tell you the last time I made brownies*, but Tom and I both had a craving that week.  I looked around for a good from-scratch recipe, which I had never done before.  Smitten Kitchen is a site that has become my go-to and I was surprised to learn that her favorite recipe for brownies comes from the back of the box of unsweetened chocolate.  Who was I to question such a learned verdict?  The recipe was easy and amazingly delicious.  So good, in fact, that I had to make another batch a few days later.

We also made some pineapple onion dip from a mix that someone got us from Green Harvest, the place that hosted my bridal shower.  With some chips, crackers, and beer, we were all set....until our guests brought more chips, brownies, and beer.

It was one of the most unhealthy nights we've had in a while, but oh so worth it.

Anyone planning to make or eat anything good this weekend?

*Actually, it's possible that the last time I made brownies was in the 8th grade.  They turned out so awful....charcoal on the edges and pudding in the middle.  I took them over to Tom's house and Rose Ann was very supportive and cut them up and put them out on a platter, as if nothing were wrong with them.  Tom and Chris gave me such a hard time.
